Engineering Fellowship Program FAQ: Process

1:   What are the deadlines?

2:   What materials are required to submit with a nomination form?

5:   Who will contact the nominated student if he or she is or is not awarded a fellowship?


1:   What are the deadlines?

A:  Please nominate prospective students between Jan. 15, and Feb. 15.  Current students should be nominated May 1, through June 30.  If prospective students will be entering during the spring semester, please nominate them between Dec. 1, and Jan. 15.

2:   What materials are required to submit with a nomination form?

A:  The following items must be included with each nomination form:

--Copy of student’s Admission Application, which includes GRE score

--Copy of student’s Statement of Purpose

Additional items to include if nominating a student for a multiple year fellowship:

--Documentation of student’s intent to seek a Ph.D.

--Copy of letter of admission and financial offer totaling > $16,000 + tuition and fees

3:   Is there specific information that should be stressed in a nomination packet?

A:  If the student has an F score below the recommended minimum (F = 36 for multi-year and F = 32 for one-year), please feel free to attach additional documentation or a summary memo emphasizing the student’s qualifications and the importance of considering the student for a particular fellowship.

4:   Who will be notified if a fellowship is awarded?

A:  The Engineering Scholarship Program will notify both the recipient and the designated graduate coordinator for the corresponding department or program.

5:   Who will contact the nominated student if he or she is or is not awarded a fellowship?

A:  The designated graduate coordinator within the department or program should contact the student (if necessary) and the graduate advisor and/or the nominating faculty member.  The Engineering Fellowship Program does not contact students who are not selected for fellowship awards.
