Welcome to the first installment of the Innovator.

Enhance Your Research Proposal with FIC Media Expertise

The multimedia experts in the Faculty Innovation Center can enhance your research proposal by providing professional quality 3D illustration, websites, interactive media, and even video production.

The FIC can also help you address the NSF's broader impact criteria by delivering media-centered educational outreach. In the last two years FIC-assisted research projects have aided in bringing more than $6 million in awards and grants to the Cockrell School.

UTwired Server Migration to be Completed September 1

FIC Server Migration on September 1

If you or your group has content hosted on our UTwired server (i.e. 'utwired' is in your website address) please be advised that it will migrated to a centrally hosted server in the coming weeks. This move is part of a larger initiative to greatly reduce IT infrastructure costs within the Cockrell School.

This migration should result in minimum service disruption. If you are a content owner someone from the FIC will be contacting you in the next several weeks to ensure a smooth transition.

If you are unsure or have any questions don't hesitate to contact Matt Mangum: mat-man[at]mail.utexas.edu | 232-1534

Reserve Your iClicker System for Fall Semester

iClicker Logo

With the Fall semester quickly approaching, think about increasing student interaction and feedback by incorporating the iClicker Classroom Response System into your lessons.

The system consists of a base transmitter and remote clickers that students purchase at the bookstore or online at about $39 (used clickers are often available for less than $25). There is no registration fee for the student, and they can use the clicker in multiple classes across campus. The instructor kit is priced at $200 and includes the base, flash drive with software, two instructor remotes and a USB cable. Instructors with estimated enrollments of 75 students or more qualify for a free instructor kit. The system also integrates with Blackboard for attendance, quizzing and grading.
