Richard Amato

President and CEO

Venti Energy

Before founding Venti Energy in 2006, a company dedicated to increasing the supply of clean and reliable energy, Richard Amato served as the director of Austin's Clean Energy Incubator (CEI) since its inception in 2001; CEI is a program of the IC2 Institute at The University of Texas at Austin and it provides business and financial services to the clean-energy community and specifically to clean-energy startups. In addition to directing Austin's CEI and starting Venti Energy, Mr. Amato also chaired the Clean Energy Alliance, a national network of clean energy incubators, and now serves as the commissioner for the City of Austin's Resource Management Committee (RMC) and Transportation Subcommittee.

Mr. Amato will talk about some of his experiences supporting clean-energy companies on a local and national level and his endeavor to start a clean-energy company. He will provide more detail about the mission of the clean-energy incubators, its collaborations, success stories, and the challenges facing clean-energy entrepreneurs. Mr. Amato will also comment on the investment needed from the public and private sectors to increase the success of clean-energy companies.
