American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) - competed in Rube
Goldberg Machine Contest.
Architectural Engineering Institute (AEI) - attended the Seismic Design
Competition.
Engineering World Health UT - designed and repaired donated medical
equipment in improved hospital conditions in under served areas.
Student Engineering Council (SEC) - hosted National Association of
Engineering Student Councils National Conference.
Sigma Gamma Tau - members attended Annual Wings Over Houston Airshow.
Summer 2009
Engineers for a Sustainable World - plan to transform the barren roofs of engineering buildings into places where vegetation can grow.
Spring 2009
American Nuclear Society - construct a nuclear criticality display and
decay-chain display for events like Explore UT and Introduce a Girl to
Engineering.
Biomedical Engineering Undergraduate Advisory Board & Graduate Undergraduate
Research Union - Bioscience and Biotechnology Symposium with industry
speakers and networking opportunities.
IEEE Robotic and Automation Society - built robot for the Region 5 robotics
competition.
Pi Sigma Pi - Liberation Through Education (LTE) Day, an outreach program
to expose Hispanic and African American middle school students to engineering.
UT for REED - students traveled to New Orleans to help with hurricane
restorations.
Fall 2008
American Society of Chemical Engineers (AIChE) - helped send more
young officers to the AIChE National Conference.
Engineers Without Borders - provided educational materials for the
program's Cameroon Project which aims to provide a school there with clean
water.
IEEE Power and Energy Society - built a small power-bike for children at
elementary and middle schools so show them how much power it take to turn on a
light bulb or TV.
PEtroleUS (Petroleum Engineering United Students) - assisted a new
organization with its first meeting.
Roden Leadership Program - supported competition "Rodennovations: Outdoor
Beautification" where teams design improvements for the outdoor areas of the
Cockrell School.
Summer 2008
Biomedical Optics Graduates Organization - helped with a bi-weekly seminar series for graduate students.
Spring 2008
American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) - competed in the concrete
canoe competition.
American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) - held panel discussion
about going to graduate school for mechanical engineering.
Biomedical Engineering Society - had an alumni reunion and included
current students and faculty so everyone could share their experiences during a
panel discussion.
Graduate Engineering Council (GEC) - held a Leadership Luau for graduate
students to participate in training and activities to develop professional and
leadership skills.
Student Branch of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE)
- replaced components for ailing computers in the IEEE office.
