Memorial and Honorary Gifts

Many donors make gifts to honor a loved one, a beloved professor or cherished friend.  Memorial and honorary gifts come in all shapes and sizes — it could be a gift to the Friends of Alec Annual Giving Program or a gift to establish an endowment. 

Honorary Gifts

Honorary gifts celebrate an individual or a group’s association with the Cockrell School of Engineering.

  • Many alumni groups and former students choose to create scholarships, excellence funds or a professorships to honor respected mentors or teachers, often in celebration of the faculty member’s retirement. 
  • Family members and friends may make a gift to honor a loved one’s work with the Cockrell School or a milestone in the honoree’s education or career.
  • Alumni classes can inspire future generations of engineering students by establishing a scholarship in honor of their graduation class.

Memorial Gifts

Memorial gifts are an opportunity to pay tribute to a loved one through a gift to the Cockrell School of Engineering.  In such cases, the family is alerted when a contribution is made in memory of a loved one.

  • Family and friends may contribute to a memorial fund following the death of a loved one.
  • A family may establish a scholarship, professorship or excellence fund to memorialize the live of a loved one and their connection to the Cockrell School.
