The ICNAM is an institution dedicated to promote partnerships, networking and interactions between scientists and engineers of the University of Texas System and high quality education and research institutions of Latin America. Its goal is to produce world class research and develop technologies based on materials science that will launch new high tech industries. The institute also provides the possibility to use world class research equipment at UT and at Latin American institutions, and to create a new generation of researchers with a global vision. The Institute will also help to improve the quality of the education of the Hispanic population in Texas. This will be achieved by promoting research activities, providing exchange with top Mexican scientists, and developing teleconferencing and bilingual material courses in the universities near the border.
The Texas Materials Institute (TMI) at the University
of Texas at Austin has a very strong program in materials science. The
University also has an outstanding Microelectronics Center, a Center for
Nano and Molecular Science and Technology, an Institute of Theoretical
Chemistry, and a Supercomputer Center. All these institutions together
form a strong foundation for the ICNAM.
