Virtual Desktops offer 24x7 access to software needed for academic endeavors. Students and Faculty can use the virtual machines from anywhere on the Internet.
Setup
NOTE: If you find that the previous version of the vDesk client installed is not responding, please uninstall the client, reboot your system and go to https://cse.vdesk.utexas.edu and download the new client
Students
Request Virtual Desktop Access 
This is a very quick and simple process and you only have to do it once.
Faculty
Contact Service Desk, provide them with your EID and we'll get you set up.
Accessing Virtual Desktop
Visit https://cse.vdesk.utexas.edu and download the vDesk client, choose View Client (be sure NOT to choose the "local mode" version).
Enter the server name, cse.vdesk.utexas.edu and then use your UT EID and password to connect to the sessions.
Virtual Desktop is accessible from any computer on-campus or off-campus via a browser.
Adminstrative priviledges are required to install the vDesk client on your computer for access.

Follow the same process as above and download and install the Mac vDesk client on your computer

Latest version of Java (available through Software Update)
- Microsoft Remote Desktop Connection v.2.0 (Administrator privileges required for installation)
- Navigate to https://cse.vdesk.utexas.edu and download the Mac vDesk client
