Kennedy Named Honorary Member of Association of Asphalt Paving Technologists

     Dr. Thomas W. Kennedy, a civil engineering professor at The University of Texas at Austin, has been named an honorary member of the Association of Asphalt Paving Technologists.

     Kennedy received the honor "for outstanding eminence in asphalt paving technology" at the association’s 75th Award meeting held recently in Chicago. Only 14 individuals have been selected for the honor during the history of the association, which has more than 2,000 members worldwide in oil, chemical and consulting companies and universities.

     Kennedy’s research interests center on asphalt mixtures and additives, materials and materials characterization, pavements and soil stabilization, and transportation. Kennedy, holder of the Engineering Foundation Professorship in Engineering, has been at UT 34 years and has served as Associate Dean of Engineering and Assistant Vice President for Research.
