Dr. Byron D. Tapley wins 1997 Joe. J. King Award

     Byron D. Tapley, P.E., director of the Center for Space Research since it was established in 1981, professor of aerospace engineering, and holder of the Clare Cockrell Williams Centennial Chair in Engineering, received The University of Texas at Austin College of Engineerings highest professional honor, the 1997 Joe J. King Professional Engineering Achievement Award.

     As part of the honor, Dr. Tapley spoke on "The Role of Satellites in Understanding Global Climate Change" to the annual College of Engineering Awards Convocation Wednesday, Feb. 19 at 3:30 p.m. at the Lila B. Etter Alumni Center on the UT Austin campus.
