"I am excited to lead STC in this year of continued change in information and communication technologies and practices," Hart said. "The global economy continues to be volatile and slow to recover from the 2008 U.S. recession, but technical communicators are well positioned, through their training and skills, to adapt to and lead initiatives in business and government that harness the way we communicate now."

For more than 24 years of her tenure at The University of Texas at Austin, Hart has developed a multi-level program in technical communication, teaching more than 165 undergraduate and graduate engineering students each year. She has published more than 20 technical articles on environmental risk communication, engineering ethics, engineering communication and defining technical communication.
