Texas Engineering Tops Recent National, International Rankings

The Cockrell School of Engineering at The University of Texas at Austin continues to land in the top 10 on national and international rankings lists. This year, the school was ranked as one of the best engineering schools not only in the United States but also in the world.

In 2014, Texas Engineering was recognized as the:

  • No. 10 best graduate engineering program in the United States, U.S. News & World Report
  • No. 10 best undergraduate engineering program in the United States, U.S. News & World Report
  • No. 5 best engineering program in the world, Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU), compiled by the Center for World-Class Universities at Shanghai Jiao Tong University. ARWU ranked UT Austin the 39th best university in the world and the 28th best in the United States.
  • No. 8 best engineering school in the world, Institution of Mechanical Engineers’ Professional Engineering (PE) magazine rankings. PE magazine references the Cockrell School's "strong research pedigree" in areas such as energy, biomedical information technology and electronics.
  • No. 2 best engineering school for Hispanics, HispanicBusiness Magazine's annual list of best schools that have Hispanic postgraduate enrollments. The magazine ranks the top 40 schools in the fields of business, engineering, law and medicine, considering factors such as Hispanic enrollment, faculty members, programs to attract and retain Hispanic students and efforts to engage the Hispanic community.
