The University of Texas College of Engineering bestowed its prestigious 2002 Corporate Service Award on Schlumberger Limited at a February 19 ceremony at UT’s Lila B. Etter Alumni House. Schlumberger was recognized for its active, sustained, and multi-level participation in the life of the College over the past four years. The company’s contributions have extended to every corner of the College, including such diverse areas as research and faculty support, continuing education, the Women in Engineering Program, the Equal Opportunity in Engineering Program, scholarships, student organizations, recruiting, executive involvement, and alumni involvement.
“A solid, ongoing partnership such as we have had for years with Schlumberger has important mutual advantages,” said engineering Dean Ben G. Streetman. “Both faculty and students reap the benefits of Schlumberger’s contributions. In many cases, in turn, the highly-qualified graduates we produce will one day become their valued employees.”
Howard Neal, Schlumberger’s vice president for U.S. technical coordination, agrees. “Schlumberger remains committed to The University of Texas, both in its research programs and education programs. This award is a nice recognition for what we’ve done, but we’re looking forward to even greater things in the future,” he said.
Schlumberger Limited is a global technology services company, employing 80,000 people in more than 100 countries.
