Dr. Tinsley Oden, professor of aerospace engineering and engineering mechanics, has been elected an honorary member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME).
Oden was chosen for his creation of the Institute for Computational Engineering and Sciences (ICES), an interdisciplinary research center for faculty and graduate students in computational sciences and engineering, mathematical modeling, applied mathematics, software engineering, and computational visualization. The Institute involves three colleges within UT Austin, 15 academic departments and more than 70 faculty members.
The award is the highest given by the ASME, an international organization with over 120,000 members.
