Professors to receive research awards from American Institute of Chemical Engineers

Professors Nicholas A. Peppas and Yueh-Lin (Lynn) Loo will receive national awards from the American Institute of Chemical Engineers at their annual meeting in November. Research professor Lisa Brannon-Peppas will deliver a plenary lecture for the institute’s Food, Pharmaceutical and Bioengineering Division meeting.
Stice receives lifetime achievement awards from his alma maters

Dr. James Stice, the Bob R. Dorsey Professor Emeritus in Engineering, received a Distinguished Alumnus Award from the University of Arkansas’ College of Engineering and a Professional Achievement Award from the Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago.

The University of Texas at Austin ranks fifth in the nation in producing undergraduate degrees for minority groups, according to the June 1 edition of Diverse Issues in Higher Education magazine. In addition, the university ranks seventh nationally among the magazine's Top 100 producers of undergraduates for Hispanics, ninth for Asian Americans and 65th for American Indians. For individual colleges, such as Engineering, individual rankings were sometimes higher.
