News :: Kilmartin Named 2008 ESPN Academic All-American of the Year in Men’s Track and Field

PGE graduate student Donovan Kilmartin has been selected as the 2008 ESPN the Magazine Academic All-American of the Year in men’s Track and Field. Each eligible athlete is a varsity starter with a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or better, and must be nominated by his/her sports information director. Kilmartin, an Eagle Idaho native, is a three-time NCAA Champion in the indoors heptathlon, and is the only male in NCAA history to win the event three times. Kilmartin also is a five-time Big 12 Champion. He won the 2008 Big 12 decathlon title with 7,675 points, a score that ranked eighth nationally entering the NCAA Championships. How does he manage to train and maintain that 3.55 GPA? Congratulations Donovan, we are impressed.
