Transfer Students

In addition to submitting a complete application for admission, transfer applicants to the Cockrell School of Engineering should also review the following information regarding special application requirements and admission restrictions.

Math Readiness

Transfer applicants to the Cockrell School of Engineering must submit proof of credit or in progress work for the equivalent of M408C, Calculus I. Refer to the online resources about transferable coursework for details about which courses are transferable.

Applicants who meet the requirement by the application deadline will receive priority consideration. Applicants with additional math and science credentials also receive priority consideration.

UT Austin teaches calculus in a two-semester sequence, M408C and M408D. If you submit transferable coursework from a college or university that also teaches calculus in two courses, then you can demonstrate math readiness by completing or having in progress an equivalent one-semester course. If, however, the college or university from which you submit transferable coursework teaches calculus in a three-semester sequence, you must complete the first two semesters of the sequence to demonstrate math readiness. Refer to the transfer equivalency guides for details about how the courses you are taking or plan to take will transfer.
