MISSION STATEMENT


Pi Sigma Pi Minority Academic Engineering Society strives to unite and increase the number of
minority engineering students who succeed academically, lead professionally, and contribute passionately to their communities.


2008 – 2009 CHAPTER GOALS

1. Increase active member participation in Pi Sigma Pi.
    a. Improve existing programs to increase active member participation.
    b. Provide a positive and friendly environment for our members.
    c. Increase the interaction between underclassmen and upperclassmen through our meetings
        and social gatherings.


2. Provide members with the resources to succeed academically and lead professionally.
    a. Provide quality tutors and increase student attendance at Study Nights.
    b. Encourage and sponsor members to attend LeaderShape Texas.
    c. Encourage members to pursue officer positions.


3. Increase our involvement in community service and pre-college initiatives.
    a. Continue to invite middles schools to Young Engineers & Scientists Day and Liberation
        Through Education Day (led by Pi with support from NSBE & SHPE).
    b. Provide members with one volunteer opportunity per month.
    c. Continue to help SHPE and NSBE with their annual community service events.

4. Encourage Pi members to pursue an advanced degree through our Graduate School
    Program.

    a. Offer payment of fees for the GRE exam.
    b. Invite on-campus resources to speak about the GEM Fellowship Program.
    c. Encourage members to attend Considering Graduate School: A Workshop Mini Series
    hosted by EOE.

5. Collaborate with NSBE and SHPE to promote interaction across disciplines and cultures.
    a. Increase interaction at PNS Socials and Athletic Events.
    b. Encourage members to participate in the PNS team during Engineering Week.
    c. Develop officer-member relations to increase membership in Pi, NSBE, and SHPE.
