Designated Corporate Scholarships

Designated scholarships are those scholarships where the entity providing the scholarship funds selects the recipient based on a set of selection criteria.  Designated scholarships may be allocated to currently enrolled students or to incoming first year and transfer students. The Cockrell School of Engineeringis limited by law in the information and lists it may provide to outside entities.  Information will only be released at the discretion of the Engineering Scholarship Program to valid entities offering scholarships of value to Engineering students. Additional information on the student may be released provided that the student gives special written permission.   Typically the scholarship application asks that students give written permission for the release of information included on the application.


Scholarships for Currently Enrolled Students 

The Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) of 1974, which restricts the information that can be provided to outside sources, applies to all students who have enrolled at UT Austin.

Under FERPA, only directory information for a student may be released.  In cases where a student has restricted his or her directory information, no information regarding that student may be released.  The following items are considered directory information:


Incoming First Year and Transfer Students

FERPA also applies to those students who have been admitted to the University and have paid their enrollment deposit.  Once a student begins their studies at UT or pays their enrollment deposit, then the Cockrell School of Engineeringis restricted to providing only directory information on students when requested.  Information will only be released at the discretion of the Engineering Scholarship Program to valid entities offering scholarships of value to Engineering students.
