Current Undergraduate Scholarship Opportunities
Most of the scholarships listed below are supported by corporations who have donated funds to the Cockrell School of Engineering. You can apply for these scholarships online through the Engineering Scholarship Application. The list may also contain additional scholarships from external sources. You can download applications or pick up paper versions in the Engineering Scholarship Program in ECJ 2.106.
To be considered for annual Cockrell School of Engineering and Departmental Scholarships, Continuing Undergraduate Students may complete the online Engineering Scholarship Application due February 1st of each year. If you are an undergraduate who plans to apply to graduate school next year, you can review fellowships on our Current Fellowships page.

SHPE - Texas Bay Area Chapter Scholarship
Eligibility:
- Applicants are expected to attend an accredited junior college or university beginning in the 2008 Fall Semester, and must be carrying a minimum of twelve credit units. Continuing students must be enrolled in a minimum of twelve credit hours at an accredited junior college or university during the 2008-2009 school year.
- Applicants must be seeking an engineering, computer science, physical science or math related degree.
- Applicants must be graduating seniors from a “Greater Houston Area” high school. The intent of the scholarship is to help local students. (Therefore, high school students graduating from other areas, such as Austin, Dallas, San Antonio, etc. are not eligible) Applicants must be continuing college students who have graduated from a “Greater Houston Area” high school or attending a “Greater Houston Area” college.

George Geng On Lee - Minorities in Leadership Scholarship 2008
Eligibility:
- Must be a minority student graduating from high school, or a full time undergraduate student enrolled at a 4 year institution.

ASCO Numatics Engineering College Scholarship
Eligibility:
- Must currently be enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program in an instrumentation, systems, electrical, mechanical, or automation discipline at a U.S. educational institution accredited by an agency recognized by the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA).
- Must have completed sophomore year in a bachelor’s degree program or enrolled in a graduate program, at the time of application
- Must be enrolled as a full-time student for the 2008/2009 academic year
- Applicant must have at least an overall GPA of 3.2 on a 4.0 scale.
- Must be U.S. citizen or legal U.S. resident

The Paul & Daisy Soros Fellowships For New Americans
Eligibility:
- Be a "Green Card" holder, or be a naturalized citizen, or have two parents who are naturalized citizens as of the date of your application.
- May not be older than 30 years as of November 1, 2008.
- You must be a senior in college or a holder of a bachelor’s degree or at present enrolled in a graduate program. Individuals who are in the third, or subsequent, year of study in the same graduate program are not, however, eligible for this competition. Students who have received a master’s degree in a program and are continuing for a doctoral degree in the same program are considered to have been in the same program from the time they began their work on their master’s degree. Applicants in dual degree programs will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

National Science Foundation Undergraduate Summer Research Opportunities
Eligibility:
- Evidence demonstrating that you are responsible, interested, and willing to learn.
- Future career plans related to the area of research.
- Related course work.
- Work experience, volunteer work, club membership that are relevant.
- Select 2-3 faculty members to write a letter of
recommendation for you, make
sure they know you and have the information about you to write a strong letter in
advance of your deadlines for applying.

Texas Exes Chapter Scholarships
Eligibility:
- See if there is a local chapter in your area, and submit the application to that chapter.
- Texas Exes Chapter Scholarships benefit entering freshmen, transfer students, and/or students continuing their education at UT.
- These students are selected by Texas Exes members who volunteer with their local chartered chapter. The Texas Exes Chapters’ volunteer leaders also work year-round to raise the funding for their awards.

Air Force ROTC Scholarship Program
Eligibility:
- US Citizen
- Prefer Aerospace, Electrical or Mechanical majors

2 and 3 year scholarships for freshmen & sophomores
Types ($600 /year for books & $300-400 monthly)
Type 2: Tuition cap $15K per year
Type 3: $9K per year
