Graduate Fellowship Information

The UT Cockrell School of Engineering offers a number of multi-year and one-year fellowships to academically competitive students.  Students can be considered for these fellowships by completing the application for admission.  Graduate students must be nominated by their program for any fellowships offered by the Cockrell School of Engineering.  Please contact the Graduate Advisor/Recruiter or Coordinator in your chosen area of study for more information.  Apart from these awards, we also post information about fellowships offered by external sources.  Please visit the Current Graduate Fellowships page to view any current fellowships.  In addition, you can also visit the Office of Graduate Studies to find out how to finance your graduate education at The University of Texas at Austin.

The Cockrell School of Engineering is a member of the GEM consortium.  For more information about the GEM Fellowship Program for minority students, please visit the GEM Web site.

Current Fellowship Recipients

If you receive a Cockrell School of Engineering Fellowship, we ask that you submit a thank you letter for the fellowship.  Engineering fellowship background information and thank you contacts can be found on the Graduate Fellowship Student Menu, along with a listing of your fellowship awards from the School.  Graduate students who receive continuing fellowships from the Cockrell School of Engineering must submit annual fellowship reports and renewal forms to maintain their fellowships.  These forms can be found on the Fellowship Status and Renewal Information site.

Graduate students can qualify for in-state tuition in two main ways.  If a student receives a fellowship in the amount of $1,000 or more during an academic year from the School or the University which was awarded competitively, they qualify for an out-of-state tuition waiver.  The Graduate Advisor or Coordinator in your department must request this waiver for you from the Engineering Scholarship Program.  Additionally, students employed by the University for 20 hours or more, typically as a TA or GRA, can qualify for an out-of-state tuition waiver through their employment status by completing the Resident Tuition Entitlement form through UT Direct.  Students employed as TA/AIs also qualify for tuition assistance.
