E-Week Point System

The point system for E-Week!!

There are 4 ways of earning points for each event:

Hosting Points : points for the society putting on the event.

Placing Points: points earned by the winning societies

Participation Points: Points earned by the non-placing societies for attendance

Faculty Points: points earned by getting faculty to come out to events

1. Hosting PointsWe believe that the emphasis should be on hosting the events. The overall quality of E-Week depends on the types and variety of events that are being hosted. Also, good logistics and planning of events are also rewarded in hosting points.

Hosting Point Criteria – 200 points max ( Rubric to be released soon )

-Points allocated to hosted events will depend on two categories:

1. Quality of Event (50% of overall hosting points).

                                         i. Was the event interesting/different?

                                         ii. Did participants enjoy it?

                                         iii. Creativity

2. Smooth Execution (50% of overall hosting points)

                                         i. Did the society seem to plan the event carefully?

                                         ii. Were the rules fair/logical?

iii. Did the event run smoothly/organized

                                         iv. Logistics of event

-Points will be allocated for each of the categories on a scale from 1-10

-SEC judges will determine the number of points for each category

2. Placing Point For the most part same as last year’s. For each event:

             1st Place : 80 points

             2nd Place : 70 points

             3rd Place: 60 points.

3. Participation Points: These points are given to participating societies that did not place 1st, 2nd, or 3rd in the event. A maximum of 40 points will be awarded to the non-placing societies that are top 5 in terms of attendance and the remaining societies will get 20 pts if they have at least 1 member attending the event.

4. Faculty Participation – There is going to be a reduction in faculty participation points this year. This change is made to combat societies from pestering their professors to sign the attendance sheet and leaving. Faculty participation means having a professor coming out to the event and mingling with the students for a decent amount of time.

Faculty Point criteria:

-Reduced faculty participation points:

1. 5 points per faculty member showing up in support of society

2. 20 points maximum for faculty participation

3. Faculty must sign their name and specify the society they represent for points to count.

Distribution:

40 points max for participation

20 points max for faculty

200 points max for hosting
