Mary Hood is an academic coordinator in the Equal Opportunity in Engineering (EOE) Program. Mary develops and manages the academic enrichment initiatives for Engineering Peer Leaders, the Tutoring Program and the EOE First Year Interest Group.
Mary’s professional career in higher education began in 1975 upon graduation from California State University Northridge. Prior to coming to The University of Texas at Austin, Mary was the associate director of admissions for California State University Dominguez Hills. In 1992, she began working in the Dean of Students Office at The University of Texas at Austin, before joining the College of Engineering in 1997. Mary is a member of the National Association of Multicultural Engineering Program Advocates, Inc. and the University’s Academic Counselors Association. She received James W. Vick Excellence Award for Academic Advising in 1995 and The University of Texas Staff Excellence Award in 1997.
