Michael received his bachelor's degree in English in 1991, and his master's degree in counseling psychology in 1994, both from The University of Texas at Austin. He worked for the Upward Bound Program at Huston-Tillotson College from 1994 to 1997, counseling and testing students and teaching a course in college preparation.
Michael joined the Engineering Career Assistance Center (ECAC) in 1997 as a career counselor, became an assistant director in 1999, and then director in 2005. As director, Michael works with students, faculty, and recruiters in the job search and recruiting process. Michael is a member and past president of the Texas Campus Career Council (TC3). He is also a member of the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) and the Southern Association of Colleges and Employers (SoACE).
