THE UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS AT AUSTIN
RECORDS MANAGEMENT
The philosophy of the records management program is to be a supportive resource for the University of Texas at Austin community and to partner with our colleagues to find and implement innovative solutions for the maintenance and protection of information.
As mandated by the Texas Government Code 441.037, the Vice President and Chief Financial Officer is the official custodian of all UT-Austin records. Acting in this capacity, the Vice President has delegated the responsibility to department heads to protect and efficiently manage records created and received in the course of conducting the business of the university.
It is the role of the records management program to administer a centrally directed program of support services that address the individualized needs of a broad range of departmental processes – with emphasis on the university’s responsibility as a state agency to comply with institutional, local, state and federal mandates.
