The University of Texas at Austin

Office of Student Life

Developing leaders. Building community.

The Cockrell School experience is more than classes. For the years you spend here, the university is your life. The Cockrell School Office of Student Life is here to help make these some of the best years you'll ever spend, as well as to help ensure that you are successful in your engineering studies.

Created in 1999 at the request of student leaders in the Cockrell School, the Office of Student Life is the first and only full-time student development office within an academic unit at The University of Texas at Austin. Out of more than 300 engineering schools in the US, only two others have similar offices.

The Office of Student Life seeks to:

  • Provide opportunities outside the classroom for engineering students to develop skills in leadership, teamwork, and communications.
  • Involve students in the life of the Cockrell School of Engineering.
  • Create a sense of community in the Cockrell School.

To meet these goals, the Office of Student Life provides a variety of different activities for engineering students.
