Banner Space & Policy
This policy relates to the banner display poles located on the
north end of the pedestrian walkway over Dean Keeton Street
between ECJ and CPE / ETC.
NOTE:
Requests for a banner or banners to be displayed from the bridge facing the traffic will *NOT* be approved. Such requests carry liability issues which neither the CSE or UT will assume.
Any banner that is found to be facing the traffic WILL BE CUT DOWN
IMMEDIATELY.
- The event or program to be advertised must be sponsored by The University of Texas at Austin (UT), the Cockrell School of Engineering (CSE), or an organization sponsored by and/or registered with one of the above.
- The event or program must be UT or CSE wide in nature.
- CSE sponsored events or programs will be given priority over all others. Engineering student organizations will be given the next highest priority.
- Written/email requests for use of the banner area are to be made to the Office of Student Life at least two weeks prior to the event or program.
- It is recommended that banners not be left hanging over the weekend.
- Requests for banner space is limited to one week time limitations.
Requests must include: a) the name and contact of the requesting organization, b) the dates for display of the banner, c) a description of the event or program, and d) a general description of the banner to be displayed. Notification of banner request decisions will follow within 5 business days of request. Notification will specify that the banner should face "north" or "south."
In General:
- The requesting organization is responsible for placing and removing the banner in a timely fashion.
- The requesting organization is responsible for furnishing all necessary banner materials.
- The CSE assumes no responsibility for security or maintenance of the banner.
- The banner may contain the name or logo of a corporate supporter; however, such name or logo cannot be the dominant feature of the display.
- Banners for events or programs promoting a corporate supporter are not permitted.
- Any banner determined to be a hazard to the pedestrian traffic will be removed.
- Clearance of at least 6'8" (80 inches) is required.
- Banners may be no larger than 16 feet long by 4 feet high.
