Corporate Guidelines

When looking for corporate support, remember you represent not only your student organization, but also the Cockrell School of Engineering and The University of Texas at Austin. Your interactions with corporate representatives have a broad impact upon the school and university.

  • Student organizations may not co-sponsor with outside entities. This includes reserving campus space, publicity, etc.
  • Student organizations may not host information sessions or recruiting events for company. There are specific UT Austin rules and procedures that must be followed for this type of program.
  • If an employer asks any Cockrell School student organization's officers or members to help with a recruiting event (such as guaranteeing good attendance at an information session or coordinating a recruiting event for the employer, i.e. room reservations, etc.), contact the ECAC director. Again, there are specific UT Austin rules and procedures that must be followed for this type of program.
  • If you have multiple corporate supporters for a single event or program, be sure the companies are compatible and not competitors.
  • Do not offer more than one company sole support of an event or activity until after the first company offered support indicates lack of interest in funding.
  • Registered student organizations may, with ESL approval, use corporate logos on t-shirts only. The use of corporate logos by sponsored student organizations is prohibited by university rules.

Corporate Relations musts:

  • Be professional, friendly and cordial at all times, even when the answer is "No."
  • Plan ahead. Request support early.
  • Follow through on events.
  • ALWAYS express thanks.
