The National Society of Professional Engineers
Code of Ethics for Engineers states:
"The services provided by engineers ... must be dedicated to the protection of
the public health, safety, and welfare. Engineers, in the fulfillment of
their professional duties, shall hold paramount the safety, health, and welfare
of the public."
The Office of Student Life is pleased to host "Engineering Spring Safety Day" to provide Cockrell School students an opportunity to learn about professional engineering safety in the workplace and to increase an awareness of how engineers are responsible for safety. It is held annually in the late spring prior to students leaving campus for summer internships/co-ops or full-time work following graduation.
Representatives from a variety of companies set up booths and demonstrations on the ECJ Plaza and talk with students about how they practice engineering safety in their respective workplaces.
