Ceremonies
Graduate students should refer to the Office of Graduate Studies Web page for
information regarding requirements and deadlines for graduation. Graduate students are
also invited to attend the Cockrell School of Engineering
ceremony.
COCKRELL SCHOOL OF ENGINEERING GRADUATION CEREMONY INFORMATION
- All potential graduates will receive a mailing containing information
about the graduation ceremony (dates, times, cap and gown, etc.) at their local address
from the Cockrell School of Engineering Dean's Office. Therefore, it is extremely
important that you keep your address correct and up to date. This
information is mailed to your local address.
- If you want to participate in the Cockrell School of Engineering
graduation ceremony, you must return name card to the Office of Student Affairs, ECJ
2.200, by the date given in the mailing.
If your name card needs to be corrected, you must
return your card or contact the Engineering Office of Student Affairs as
soon as possible.
- The official graduation date for December is December 19, 2009.

Time |
- Candidates should arrive by 8am at the Red River entrance
- Ceremony begins promptly at 9am
- The graduation ceremony will last approximately two hours.
- Be prepared to remain for the entire ceremony.

Dress/Regalia |
- Students should wear business attire underneath their regalia.
- Academic Regalia is required for all degree candidates and consists of:
1.) cap 2.) gown 3.) hood
- A regalia package is available for purchase from the
University Co-Op.
- Please note that the appropriate tassel/sash color for the Cockrell
School of Engineering is
ORANGE.
- If you borrow regalia, please make sure that you also have or purchase the
ORANGE
sash and tassel.
- Only academic related additions to the regalia will be allowed (i.e. Honor Cords, Honor Society sashes, etc.)
- Please do not bring any personal items such as purses, backpacks or coats.
- There is no dress code for guests.
SPECIAL NOTE ABOUT FOOTWEAR:
Be careful in choosing shoes to wear, as the ramps to and from the stage can be slick and are rather steep. It is recommended
that high heels not be worn. No flip flops, please.

- NO TICKETS ARE REQUIRED.
- The Frank Erwin Center has plenty of seating.
NOTE: Other colleges/schools may require tickets for their graduation
ceremonies.

Photography |
- During the ceremony, each degree candidate will cross the stage and be congratulated.
- A professional photographer will be present.
- Candidates will have the option of purchasing photographs, but there is no obligation to do so.

- Parking is available in UT parking lots and UT parking garages.

- Additional parking may be found in State of Texas employee parking lots and garages near the Erwin Center.

through the Red River entrance where they will find convenient access to elevators and arrangements for wheelchair seating. |

Diplomas |
- Diplomas for December candidates begin to be mailed January 8, 2010.
- It may take 6-8 weeks for students to receive their diploma at their
permanent address.

Order of the Engineer
Students who are eligible for graduation are also encouraged to join the
Order of the Engineer. For more information on the Order, please
visit the website.
Are you a senior planning on applying for graduation for the upcoming fall

should take, and services available to you after graduation? At orientation,
you will learn about the graduation application and process; commencement
details; procurement of your cap, gown and announcements; and resources that
are available to you as an alumnus.
Orientation meetings will be held
in the ECJ 10th floor Large Conference Room on the following dates:
September 17 3-4:00 p.m.
October 7 12-1:00 p.m.
