SEC's winning design

Presenting next year's Orientation t-shirt!

Congratulations to SEC on creating the winning design.

The Cockrell School of Engineering is one of the largest on the UT Austin campus with more than 6,600 students enrolled in ten undergraduate and 15 graduate programs. Within our five main campus buildings and numerous research centers are students from Texas, all over the U.S., and many foreign countries.

We welcome you to our tradition of excellence and hope that information provided on these pages will facilitate your becoming a student, remaining a student, and becoming an orange-blooded alumnus of our School.

Applications & Procedures

Each student must be informed about all pertinent rules and regulations and must abide by them at all times. Academic advisors and other faculty members are available to assist students, but the ultimate responsibility for being informed rests with the student. Please review the applications, policies and procedures that apply to engineering students.

Academic Advising

There are several offices within the School that work together to provide the engineering student with academic advising services. It is to the engineering student's advantage, as well as his or her responsibility, to be aware of and access the academic advising services offered by the various offices. Students are able to seek advice from faculty, departmental advisors, and Office of Student Affairs advisors.

Fall 2009 Seasonal and H1N1 Influenza Recommendations

Fall 2009 is expected to be an active influenza season with the risk of both seasonal and novel H1N1 flu viruses. University communities are particularly vulnerable to the spread of illness.

If students have the following "influenza-like" symptoms, they should call the UHS 24-Hour Nurse Advice Line at (512) 475-6877. Professional nurses will help students determine whether or when they need to see a healthcare provider and what to do to feel better.

Students who are ill with flu-like symptoms should NOT come to class or have close contact with other students (e.g., study groups). They should NOT return to class until 24 hours after fever has abated. More information and updates are available at the Emergency Information website.
