Rules of Engagement

To ensure the success of The University of Texas at Austin College of Engineering mentoring program, please be committed to the following Rules of Engagement:

Instructions for Accessing Open Mentoring™ as a Mentee

  1. You will need your "Mentee Group Code" - Login through UT Direct for your unique Mentee Group Code
  2. Go to http://www.3creekmentoring.com/UTAustin
  3. Select User Login
  4. Select New User
  5. Fill out the following required user information
  1. Once you have submitted your User Profile, you will then enter your mentoring account where you will be prompted to enter a Project Name to begin the Learning Agreement for your mentoring relationship.  The Project Name is a unique name you create for the mentoring relationship (question/issue) you wish to work on with a mentor.  (Examples: Finding a Job; Improving My Technical Skills; Resume Help; General Engineering Questions)
  2. Follow the instructions that appear on each page.

Note: To reenter the tool as a Current User, you will need your User Name and Password.  If you forget your password, enter the tool through the portal page, click on "User Login" and then "Current User". Click on the "forgot password" link to enter your email address and username to request your login information.

  • Initiate and drive the relationship
  • Identify initial learning goals
  • Seek feedback
  • Take an active role in their own learning
  • Initiate monitoring and closure sessions
  • Allocate time and energy
  • Follow through on commitments or renegotiate appropriately
  • Be an expert
  • Know all the questions they should ask
  • Get things right the first time
  • Fit all learning into one mentoring relationship
  • Look to mentor for all answers about their work
  • Be submissive in their relationship
  • Develop a friendship with the mentor
