Academic Committee The academic committee is responsible for maintaining the test files, leading the effort to collect more tests at the end of the semester, organizing study nights, tutoring sessions and faculty lunches. Careers in Engineering for Women Are you interested in introducing 6th and 7th graders to engineering? Are you interested in planning a fun week long event for prospective engineers? Join the CEW committee (Careers in Engineering for Women) and help with planning and implementing the CEW program. CEW is a week long summer camp organized completely by SWE members. The CEW committee has several individual committees within it: CEW funding, CEW activities, CEW tours and presentations, and CEW correspondence. Corporate Ever thought about working with recruiters? This comittee assists the VP of Corporate Affairs in planning and running the many corporate-oriented events that SWE hosts. Fundraising Want to help SWE raise money for all our events and to help SWE be able to do more for our members? This committee helps the treasurer buy items for our office store and develops fundraising activities that benefit SWE and its members. Leadership Do you have what it takes to be a leader? Do you want to help others hone their leadership skills while learning a thing or two yourself? The leadership committee helps plans leadership-oriented events like the bi-annual leadership retreats. Outreach Help plan community activities for SWE members! One major event the committee will plan is Encounter With Engineering, held early spring to introduce high school females to engineering. Many other local community service projects will be developed and organized. Publicity Publicity is responsible for advertisement of SWE activities. We need creative people to create flyers and posters to inform students of SWE's events. Committee members also post the flyers around the engineering compound and around campus. Recruitment/Retention Are you excited about being part of SWE? Do you want to get others involved too? This committee is responsible for brainstorming and implementing new ways to recruit new members. Duties could also include talking to intro engineering classes about SWE and emailing last year's members to invite them to return. This committee is also responsible for coming up with ideas to help retain current members and increase the number of active members. Social Do you like to plan social activities and contribute to the success of those activities? Committee members will be able to select and organize monthly socials and any other fun activities for members. Activities include joint organization activities, sporting activities like Paintball or Intramural teams, and fireside dinners with professors. Spring Awards Banquet (Spring only) This committee is responsible for helping to plan and organize SWE’s annual awards banquet held in the late spring. The awards banquet honors outstanding members, graduating members, faculty, staff and advisors. It’s a fun evening filled with great food and good times. We are now accepting applications for this committee chair if you're interested! SAB comittee chair app SWE-SEC Would you like to compete against other engineering organizations? This committee coordinates SWE's representation in the many Student Engineering Council (SEC) events. Help with activities in the College of Engineering such as the Halloween Canned Food Drive and National Engineers Week, held mid-February of every year. Each event allows the different engineering societies to participate in friendly competition for prizes.
