Scholarships

Welcome to the Engineering Scholarship Program! Thanks to generous donations from alumni, corporations, and friends of the Cockrell School, undergraduates received more than $4 million in merit-based awards in 2009, including awards for first-year and current students.

Have you already been awarded a scholarship from the Cockrell School of Engineering?  Then find out what to do next on the Scholarship Recipients page.

Future Students

The majority of the scholarships offered to future engineering students are merit-based awards in conjunction with the Engineering Honors Program.  To be considered for merit scholarships from the Cockrell School of Engineering, please follow the instructions to apply for the Engineering Honors Program.

Students are highly encouraged to apply for all university and a limited number of additional engineering scholarships by completing the scholarship section of the ApplyTexas application for UT Austin by December 1.  As long as you have marked Engineering as your first-choice major, you will be considered for any additional scholarships engineering offers to future students.

Current Students

Currently enrolled engineering students complete the Engineering Scholarship Application by February 1, each year to be considered for scholarship awards and renewals the following year. The Cockrell School also offers scholarships throughout the year from companies, organizations and external groups. The Current Scholarship List changes frequently, so check it often. Most internally awarded corporate scholarships are due each October 1.

Transfer Students

The Cockrell School of Engineering does not offer scholarships to incoming transfer students. Transfer students can complete the UT Scholarship Application for Continuing and Transfer Applicants by April 1. Once enrolled in Engineering, complete the Engineering Scholarship Application by February 1.

International Students

The Cockrell School does not offer scholarships to incoming international undergraduates. Current international undergraduates can apply for a small number of scholarships available by completing the Engineering Scholarship Application by February 1. Find more information for international students on the Web pages below.

Out-of-State Tuition Waivers

To be eligible for an out-of-state tuition waiver, a student must receive an academically competitive scholarship or fellowship of $1,000 or more during an academic year.
