The new VECTOR is out! Check it out here!

The Vector is the official student-run newspaper of the Student Engineering Council that services the entire Cockrell School of Engineering at the University of Texas at Austin. There are over 7,000 engineering students at U.T. and the Vector brings something unique to each of them. The Vector includes scientific discussions of modern engineering topics, opinion pieces from students, information about upcoming events put on by the college and student organizations, puzzles, and even synopses of professors' research. The newspaper is distributed throughout campus for students to pick up in between classes and is also published online and sent to a list of member subscribers.

The current staff of the Vector took over the project last year in an effort to re-engineer and revitalize the newspaper. We have an excited and diverse staff, including all classes (Freshman through Seniors) and representing many of the engineering majors. As a part of the Student Engineering Council the Vector works closely with all of the engineering societies on campus to solicit their opinions and better represent the student body in our work. We made significant changes in the past twelve months, both to the paper and the staff structure, and are continually growing and innovating the Vector.

Look for our next issue starting this week! Inside you'll find a great interview with Dean Streetman and Tricia Berry, as well as interesting student opinions on favorite nap spots on campus, software industry, Austin films, nifty modern gadgets, environment-friendly technology, and many more. Reports from a variety of engineering student organizations are also included. As always there's SUDOKU, engineering jokes, mazes and calendar on engineering student events! Be sure to pick one up outside the SEC office, around your building or online here!

Sincerely,

The Vector Staff
