Design - "How do we solve this problem"

Once we knew what the client wanted us to do, we had to talk about how we could make it happen. There were several issues to consider at this point:

- What programming languages could we use?
- What could the interface look like?
- What talents did the people in our team have?
- Should we use older known technologies or put in the effort to try learning new technologies?
- How much time did we have?
- Are there any algorithms that could make the computation faster?
- Did we have to worry about security?

Our team took all these things into consideration and developed a prototype. A prototype is the very first stage production of an application. It is not going to be fully-functional and will be pretty ugly. Imagine it as a car with all the buttons and switches, but it is not painted, there is no engine inside, and none of the buttons work yet. The object is to get only the general idea across.
