Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day (Girl Day)

Saturday, February 20, 2010
2-5 p.m.

Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day (Girl Day) is celebrated internationally during Engineers Week each year. Families and educators are encouraged to join their students at UT for an afternoon of engineering fun. Girl Day gives 1st through 8th grade students a chance to:

The Girl Scouts of Central Texas will have Girl Day patches for sale at the event. The patches cost $3 each and will be available at the Girl Scout booth.  A special thanks to all WEP Girl Day Partners.

How it Works:

Activities for 1st-3rd graders, 4th-5th graders and 6th-8th graders are housed in UT's engineering complex. Students are encouraged to build and experiment at their own pace with all of the age-appropriate activities in their specific building.  There are no volunteers or guides to take students around to the activities so parents/counselors/teachers are expected to remain with their student(s) during the event.  There will be parent information areas and/or rooms where engineering information will be available and parents/counselors/teachers may take a break if their students are engaged in an activity.

All students are invited to take breaks throughout the day to explore open activities and the TAME Trailblazer Trailer.

Pre-registered students who participate in at least six Girl Day activities will get an awesome Girl Day T-shirt upon completing an evaluation form.
