Graduates Linked with Undergraduates in Engineering (GLUE)

Graduates Linked with Undergraduates in Engineering (GLUE) gives undergraduate students the opportunity to gain practical research experience by pairing them with graduate students in their majors.

GLUE is only offered in the Spring semester. Participation is limited to 24 undergraduates.

Undergraduates

  • Assist with research projects for 3-5 hours per week
  • Participate in a weekly seminar class for two pass/fail credit hours (Tuesdays, 3:30 - 5 p.m. in the Spring Semester)
  • Gain work experience
  • GLUE is open to all majors

Application Procedures:

  1. Review the following academic requirements to make sure you meet them. You must have:
    • At least 28 hours of basic sequence course work before applying including an introductory course in your engineering discipline, 8 hours of Calculus (M408C/D or M408K/L/M) and 8 hours of Physics (PHY303K/L & PHY 103M/N).
    • A minimum 3.0 overall GPA and a 3.0 major GPA.
    • Completed one full semester of engineering at UT Austin if you are a transfer student.
    • Must be an undergraduate engineering student.
    • At least 20 hours of degree coursework remaining for the semesters following the research experience.
  2. On the application, you will be asked to select from 1 of 6 information sessions that you will need to attend. At this session, we will discuss your research interests so as to determine the best graduate match for you.
  3. Submit your application using the link at the bottom of the page; please answer all application questions for your application to be considered.
  4. Applications will be reviewed and then matched with a graduate student, based on your major and research interest. You will be notified the 3rd week in October. Thank you for your interest in GLUE.
