WEP Leadership Seminar
GE 279K
Fall Semesters
Wednesdays, 3 - 5 p.m.
The purpose of the WEP Leadership Seminar is to provide second year undergraduate students practical applications to assessing your leadership and communication styles and applying what you learn through interactive activities. Seminars include interactive leadership role plays, personal assessments, industry leader guest speakers, and MBA-level course material. The 2-credit hour, pass/fail course counts towards the 14 hour rule.
Leaders lead by example; by participating in the Leadership Seminar, you are emulating a WEP Leader and a Cockrell School of Engineering Leader. Participants will gain access to high level leaders across campus, in industry and in the engineering community. The WEP Leadership Seminar will also incorporate service learning.
Successful undergraduates demonstrate:
- Commitment to Learning - a genuine desire to expand their knowledge; your intellectual curiosity may be your most important asset.
- Self-motivation - the ability to work independently; you should be where you are expected and do what you are supposed to do.
- Good Communication Skills - it is your responsibility to report progress and seek guidance when you need it; if you encounter a problem or make a mistake, discuss it with your mentor right away.
- Time Commitment - discuss expectations about time and procedures for recording the hours you work.
Participants in the WEP Leadership Seminar gain the skills to be successful both in school and in the workplace.
Continue with our seminar in the spring
