Congratulations on your acceptance to The University of Texas at Austin and the Cockrell School of Engineering!
Welcome to the Longhorn family. Now that the admissions process is behind you, we want to introduce you to some of the programs available to you as an engineering student. The Women in Engineering Program (WEP) provides a supportive structure that encourages the success of women in the Cockrell School.
We offer a wide variety of activities that will help you meet other students, form study groups, make connections with faculty, explore engineering career options -- and enjoy your university experience!
Events for Admitted Students
We invite you to visit campus and get acquainted with your new home. WEP will host several events on campus for admitted students where you can meet WEP staff and current engineering students, such as the WE Connect events.
WEP Learning Community in Kinsolving South
WEP Learning Community is a residential community near the engineering complex just for first-year engineering women. Participants form study groups and develop a social network with others who have common interests.
First Year Initiative (FYI)
First Year Initiative is a series of special events and programs that provides academic peer support and a peer network during your first year. Through FYI, you will learn about scholarships, study abroad offerings, how to do an externship, and even have lunch with our Dean!
First-year Interest Group (FIG)
A WEP First-year Interest Group is a program consisting of small groups of engineering women who share classes and meet for a weekly seminar with WEP staff and a peer mentor.
