Leadership Opportunities

Women in Aerospace for Leadership and Development (WIALD)

Women in Aerospace for Leadership and Development (WIALD) is a student organization that provides aerospace industry project-based leadership and development opportunities for undergraduate engineering students. The vision is that more women graduate leadership skills and hands-on technical experience in the field of aerospace engineering. Previous projects have included launching a high altitude balloon to over 100,000 feet, flying on NASA’s “Vomit Comet,” and modifying a drone to carry an autonomous glider.

WIALD hosts regular meetings each week throughout the fall and spring semesters to work on the current project, as well as various social events throughout the year. WIALD also is involved in outreach, including events like Explore UT and Girl Day at UT Austin. To become a member of WIALD, attend one of the organization’s meetings, held at 7 PM on Wednesdays in WRW 410 throughout the fall and spring semesters.
