Jeanne Stachowiak

Headshot of Dr. Jeanne StachowiakDr.Jeanne Stachowiak is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biomedical Engineering. She graduated with Highest Honors from the University of Texas at Austin with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering in 2002. She received her M.S. and Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering
from The University of California, Berkeley.

Her research lab is focused on understanding how proteins and lipid domains modify the fluidity, reactivity, and 3D architecture of membranes, examining how confinement within a lipid vesicle influences biochemical reactions and spatial organization of biochemical components, and using the organizational principles of lipid membrane to build functional systems such as assays, drug carriers, and environmentally responsive materials. Dr. Stachowiak has received numerous awards, such as the 2014 National Science Foundation CAREER Award and the 2011 Cornell University Distinguished Honor for Faculty Mentoring Co-op Students.
