A Regional Approach to Engaging K-12 Students in Engineering

Mr. Rob Richardson
East Coast Education Manager, Intel Corporation

Rob Richardson has been the East Coast Education Manager for Intel Corporation since 2001.  Located in Hudson, Massachusetts, Richardson works with K-12 schools and colleges to help them improve programs in math, science, and engineering, particularly for women and under-represented minorities.  Most of the attention is focused on schools near Intel sites and many of the programs link Intel volunteers and Intel Foundation funds to support curriculum and professional development.

Over his career, he worked with schools in several capacities: the founding Director of the French River Education Center in Oxford, an Associate Director of the Center for Educational Leadership and Technology and Sr. Consultant with Future Management Systems.  In each of these roles, he helped educators plan programs and create or adopt best practices to use technology as a teaching/learning tool.  Two programs he created earned US Presidential citations for innovative partnerships with industry and both were designated as national models by the US Department of Education. He currently is a member of the Diversity Advisory Boards of the University of Massachusetts College of Engineering and WPI.

Rob earned a BA from Tufts University and a master’s degree from the Harvard Graduate School of Education.
