Chevron has contributed $384,300 to support student scholarships and academic programs at The University of Texas at Austin, bringing the company’s total giving to the university to more than $36 million.
The gift targets programs serving students in the university’s Jackson School of Geosciences, Cockrell School of Engineering and McCombs School of Business.
The $384,300 donation — which is 68 percent higher than a similar gift the company made in 2006 — was presented to university President William Powers Jr. at a campus reception with Chevron scholarship recipients.
Powers said Chevron’s support makes top programs at the university even stronger.
“Our geosciences, engineering and business programs are among the best in the country,” he said. “With ongoing support from great partners like Chevron, The University of Texas will continue to lead in these vital fields.”
Chevron is one of the largest integrated energy companies in the world. Headquartered in San Ramon, Calif., the company conducts business in 180 countries.
