Many awards are offered annually to recognize the outstanding work our faculty are doing both in teaching and research.

C. Grant Willson, professor in the McKetta Department of Chemical Engineering, receives the National Medal of Technology and Innovation from former President George W. Bush. 

Recent Recognition

Four faculty members received Cockrell School Faculty Excellence Awards for teaching, research and engineering achievements:

  • Robert Heath, professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, received the Joe J. King Professional Engineering Achievement Award
  • George Georgiou, professor in the McKetta Department of Chemical Engineering and Department of Biomedical Engineering, received the Billy and Claude R. Hocott Distinguished Centennial Engineering Research Award
  • Chad Landis, professor in the Department Aerospace Engineering and Engineering Mechanics, received the Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Company Award for Excellence in Engineering Teaching
  • Brandon Jones, assistant professor in the Department Aerospace Engineering and Engineering Mechanics, received the Dean's Award for Outstanding Teaching by an Assistant Professor
